Witnessing Motivation

1. Warn them of the Fire

Late one evening, you decide to go for a little walk around the neighborhood under the stars. As you walk, you are horrified to see that a house down the street is on fire and burning down! You don't know the people, but you do know that they are likely still inside, sound asleep at the other end of the house. Do you run away without saying anything? Do you decide not to disturb the people, fearing that they might be offended? Or do you run up and bang on their front door, warning them of their impending doom--burned to death?

I certainly hope that you would decide to warn the people sleeping inside, even if they might be a little angry at first over being woken up. I mean, surely once they were out and saved they would thank you whole-heartedly! So, just as you would warn the sleeping person that they are about to be burned to death, so you should warn those spiritually "asleep" (whose spirits are dead, not made alive in Christ, or either Christians who have fallen asleep) of the fires of Hell raging quickly towards them. And, while not everyone you witness to will be thanking you or will even be saved, perhaps some will. And at least then no one can say that you did not try. But, on the other hand, wouldn't it be nice to go to sleep each night knowing that someone was dead because you were too afraid to warn them of the fire?
